STRIPED & VERY CASUAL

I'm too busy with a lot of things + baby to post anything else so I'm just outfit spamming you.
Here's something super casual and very comfy. Alhtough I thinkI got the jeans in one size too big so I might have to sell these and get myself a smaller pair. Which although the extra hazzle is pretty alright when you think about it.

CASUAL AND CROPPED x2

Well hello there from the sunshine!

This time blog-posing in repro items in a fifties casual style - a cropped top from Freddies of Pinewood and capris form Vivien of Holloway.

The capris are great because they are quite loose in fit, but still goes well with heels. I was meaning meaning to get a pair of these forever and could finally tick that of my list last winter although I haven't really got around wearing them until now.

My top, which I love,  is a size XL. And I have no idea how anyone normally built fits into the smaller  sizes- I once got a couple of Freddie's tees on sale in M, which usually is my size. They were too small for my ribcage and incredibly short on (yes I know they are meant for high waisted garments but they were still a bit too short) so I set out to get a top in size large. L was out of stock for this one so I opted for XL thinking I'd need to take it in but no need for that, any smaller and it wouldn't be wearable!

By the way.
I want (and this time also need) to get a pair of blue jeans for hanging out with Dag in the park and such. I sold my Vivien ones as they were too big and they are now out of stock in my actual size, so I am thinking of going for Freddie's instead. The sizing info on their page is pretty clear but I still don't think any of the sizes seem suitable to me (my waist just won't go back to it's pre-pregnancy measurement but clings on to it's +5 cm, while my hips is are their old big happy self..). It's also hard to choose a cut from the internet without the possibility to try the pair on first. Any suggestions on those, the Freddies ones, or others?

THE TEA DRESS

Spring, and Easter especially is the perfect time for all tings pastel or pink. Or floral. So I went trough some of my floral pink dresses during the holidays.

This is the Tea Dress from Vivien of Holloway. The pattern is very retro and bold, sort of crazy if you look close upon it - I don't think I would ever come up with the idea to get a fabric like this for myself if I was about to sew something, but I think it works very nice on this dress (and serves as a good reminder of how different a fabric works when seen separately before cut and sewn into a garment. The same goes for wallpaper too btw).

Eddi commented that the dress was rather nice without me asking him first which does not happen that often.  So it's a winner.

There's a new set of Tea Dresses out in denim fabric which I a coveting for the moment but hey, you can't have everything ;)

KUSTOM, CAPRIS AND BANGS

I'm off hanging out and posing and later performing at the Kustome Kulture Show now! If you're not into cars and their customisation there are lots of other vendors and stalls for all things retro and repro, like a vintage beauty parlour and mobile pin up photo studio etc.

I have this childish enthusiasm over being at a warm indoor event all day being able to wear some of my summer wardrobe and sandals etc so on I think I'm packing double pairs with me for a possible change. Hehe.

About my bangs-issue; the moment I realised I most likely will cut them back, as some part inside of me is determined to do so,  my terrible itch for grabbing the scissors actually calmed down a bit. This hair-do here is, quite clearly, just  faux rolled bangs. So let's see. In any case I will wait until the cold hat-cap-cover-you-head season is over.

AN APPLE A DAY - OR PLENTY!

Dag knows how to say 'apple' and whenever he sees something round and red he goes APPLE! You can imagine what he does when he sees this dress...

It's a wrap dress which makes it very comfy - I just realised I don't have any other wrap dresses for the moment. (Which might have to be corrected. Perfectly good reason for staying up late and browse around a little and even do some possible shopping, ey?) And yes, it has one big pocket on the side. (I know, you are rolling your eyes is she on it with the pockets again/i>, but moving around a lot with a little kid I have become dependent on them -the P's - for napkins, keys and quick put-out-of-reach:es and so on...)

I love the intense apple print, but it does run a little large, so it will probably be passed on. That, or then I'll just eat a lot for Christmas to fill it up, which is also a good option ;)

The dress is called Astrid, from Vivien of Holloway. The rose earrings are old and I can't remember where I got them anymore...

LIGHTING IT UP / THE KITTY DRESS

A little bit after in schedule perhaps (I like to make the most out of the waiting-for-Christmas-season) but I've finally managed to start hanging up lights here and there.

First up where some lights around the kitchen window. I usually keep it rather low key but have  some more things and blings, one a day, for a few days ahead to put up.
But now on to other matters -

Dress-matters! This one here is a new acquaintance, a soft and rather comfy repro day dress with a gathered skirt that has a lot of oomph-to it also without a petticoat.
My first thought was that it belonged on a sunny day with bike rides and and espadrille wedges on it's way to a summer picnic but then at a second look the print is also rather kitchen-y so to say, so I think it suits the season quite well too! Because, for me, kitchens and Christmas has this kind of own special bond. (And you may recall me mentioning that it is rather easy to "winterise" summer dresses and layer up a cotton dress to keep you warm enough in the cold, so this one will experience will sweaters and stockings as well, not just summery sun kissed bikerides.)

The dress is the Kitty day dress  from one of my old time favourites, Vivien of Holloway. VoH has a new site that has made it easier to navigate trough, and thus also easier to shop at....

The dress came with a matching scarf and, yes, it has plockets! (Put some pockets on, or wheels under, and you know you have me there).

You've heard me say how I love shirt waist dresses because they are so versatile and comfy; worn at home with flats or slippers (I wear ballet flats at home as we have cold floors) but then again easily dressed up with heels and the rest.

 The scarf can also be worn around the neck for example.

My cardigan is vintage from Years Since Yesterday and the heart-shoes are Frollein von Sofa's.

AUTUMN CASUAL / 3x CHECKS

Sometimes even I manage to dress (almost-) smart for the outdoors.The jeans are Vivien of Holloway (but a size too big so I'll be selling them soon and getting a smaller pair), the jacket is vintage from Brag Vintage.

PINAFORE SKIRT VOL 2.0

You may remember my pinafore skirt from Vivien of Holloway?

 It's a piece of clothing I love; it's comfy and sits well, but I haven't really gotten around wearing it that much. And I know the reason: it is too red, which makes it hard to wear together with most other stuff you need to wear over here the biggest part of the year.

Instead of letting it go I decided to color it - a risk, especially if the label says hand wash, but if the result turns out good (which is kind of 50/50) it can save the item. I decided to go for dark brown which should work on red (as in opposite of blue for example, resulting in violet, etc). And brown goes well with everything, even better than black! Dark brown even goes better with black than black goes with brown, sort of.

Well it didn't exactly turn out that dark brown. Or brown at all.

The fabric is 100% cotton which should take on color real well, but I take it that the thread is coated somewhow. So now it's kind of a "woven" dark red.

Which is not all that bad actually.

The fabric took on a sort of vintage texture which looks very nice. And it did turn out more wearable!

Then I noticed  suspenders like this are not the most practical in mom-baby world, easily grabbable and pullable and so on, but that's another story.

STRIPES, PETTICOAT AND LEDERHOSEN

The combo of a black skirt and striped shirt is something I could return to forever and forever. Which I do, in different variations.Yesterday I spiced the usual set up with knitted red tights.

 And Dag was wearing his lederhosen t-shirt.

The word whimsical has always annoyed me a bit, but yesterday one could say I felt a bit so which made it a good day to remember to use those petticoats of mine. (Which is not that bad of an idea actually as they apart form making any big skirt better also help keep warm outside.)

Dag loves petticoats and fluff too.
But he on the other hand think they work best for chewing and drooling on.

Btw if someone wonders if I actually went out in the snow with those small suede vintage shoes the answer is of course no, they are just for inside use for the moment.

When going out it's winterboot- and knitted socks time already!

Which I try to avoid as much as possible! There's a blizzard outside and I have raw lime pie, pepermint tea and newly put-up Christmas lights at home. Cosy levels are up!
